HIGHLANDS
Although the Highlands can indicate the area consisting of the Upper and Lower Highlands, usually when Denverites say “the Highlands,” it is referring to the Upper (or West) Highlands, bounded by Sheridan, 38th Avenue, Zuni Street, 23rd Avenue, and Lowell. The Lower Highlands are called LoHi and are generally considered to be a separate neighborhood. (If you really want to make your head spin, be aware that the Highlands area also contains the historic districts of the Potter Highlands, Scottish Highlands, and Highlands Park… and for you recent Denver transplants, the Highlands and Highlands Ranch are NOT the same… not even a little bit.)
West Highlands real estate has become incredibly popular in the past decade or so, as the neighborhood’s charm is unmistakable. Highlands Square sits in the heart of the residential area, providing an easily walkable playground offering a whimsical and ever-changing variety of restaurants and shopping, as well as seasonal farmers’ markets and festivals. This historic Denver neighborhood was originally constructed in the late 1800s to early 1900s, as such, Upper Highlands real estate offers an abundance of well-maintained and unique Victorian homes. However, redevelopment has brought a variety of high-end contemporary lofts and condos, along with modern homes and townhomes to the neighborhood.
West Highlands homes for sale are some of the most sought-after in the city, offering a central location, just minutes away Downtown Denver, Sloan’s Lake, LoHi, Mile High Stadium, and the Tennyson Street Cultural District. The Highlands neighborhood also provides easy access to I-70 and I-25, creating a truly convenient living experience. Some of our favorite spots in the Highlands include Trattoria Stella, Highlands Cork & Coffee, Mondo Vino Wine and Spirits Shop, and West Side Books.
